Hello again:

With Ash Wednesday behind us, we are now in the season of Lent.

For the next five weeks we will hold a Lenten study based on the book, "24 Hours That Changed the World", by Adam Hamilton. We'll meet on Monday nights beginning at 6 p.m. with a covered dish dinner. After dinner, children in grade 5 and younger may adjourn upstairs to their own study, "Way of the Child", a spiritual enrichment program. We will have a sign-up table in the narthex, but please know that you are welcome at any or all of the dinners whether you have signed up or not.

You may also observe Lent by reading the brief daily devotion, "Journey to the Cross", available through our website, www.hidenwood.org  The link to the devotion is the first item on our website. Both the readings and the background music are beautiful!

Both Sunday Worship Services will be held as usual!

Hello all. There's a lot going on in the next week or so at the church. Here's a reminder:

Saturday, January 30, those interested in seeing the Africian artifacts brought back by William Sheppherd (Black Livingstone) can meet in the lobby of the Hampton University museum at 12 noon. See driving directions on our website: www.hidenwood.org.

Sunday, January 31, is Scout Sunday--there will be a reception following both services.

Sunday, January 31, is the final day to place an order for Brunswick Stew--$10 a quart. The youth will operate a "drive thru" on Saturday, February 6, from 3-7 p.m. in the church parking lot. You may also pick up your order on Sunday, February 7, after worship (serve stew for your Super Bowl get-together!). You can place an order by e-mail: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Wednesday, February 3, is our monthly Taizé service in the Chapel at 6:30 p.m., followed by a meeting of the Hidenwood Book Club in the McMullen Room. They will discuss the book, "“The Help" by Kathryn Stockett.

Used Book Sale. This event to raise funds for improvements to our library is set for Wednesday-Sunday, February 10-14. We will continue to collect used books through Monday, February 8. This event will be publicized in the Daily Press, so we expect a crowd, and we need lots and lots of books to sell! Please consider thinning out your home library and donating unwanted books to this project. There are collection boxes at every entrance to the church.

The Wednesday, February 10, Fellowship Dinner will feature bar-b-que on the menu.

The Sunday, February 14, Valentine's Day function at 6 p.m. will feature assorted desserts, and funny entertainment. RSVP in the narthex on Sunday or to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for both of these events.
